SNC-Lavalin And Guris, A Turkish Company To Sign Contract To Complete Subway In Kazakhstan



MONTREAL, QUEBEC--SNC-Lavalin Inc., in association with Guris Construction & Engineering Co. Inc. of Turkey, has signed a contract with the Mayor of the City of Almaty, capital of Kazakhstan, represented by Joint Stock Company Almaty Metrostroi, to complete the city's subway. The contract, approved by the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan, will be carried out in two phases, the second conditional on the results of the first.

The first phase, a feasibility study, will fix the scope of the project, will draw up the preliminary design, and establish the project cost and the financing strategy. This first phase is valued at approximately CDN$1 million, including a contribution of up to CDN$500,000 from the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA). The second phase covers the execution of the project itself, including design, engineering, procurement, equipment installation and project management.

The SNC-Lavalin Group is a Canadian company listed on the Montreal and Toronto stock exchanges with operations mainly in engineering-construction but also in manufacturing.
